Public Comment period open for an amendment to the Elderly Waiver plan

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) requests public comments on a proposed amendment to Minnesota’s Elderly Waiver Plan (PDF) before submitting the amendment to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid services (CMS) for approval. For information on how to access the full versions of Minnesota’s approved waiver plans, see Community Based Services Manual (CBSM) — How to get a copy of a federally approved waiver plan.

What this amendment does

This amendment seeks federal approval to add the Medical Assistance (MA) eligibility group of working individuals with disabilities, or Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with disabilities (MA-EPD), who are age 65 and older to be served by the Elderly Waiver (EW). This amendment also seeks federal approval to add two new waiver target subgroups which are: Disabled (physical) and Disabled (other) who are age 65 and older to be served through the Elderly Waiver. This amendment will enable people who enroll in MA-EPD at or after the age of 65 and need home and community based services to receive them through EW.
